Bring your medicine bottles or a written list of the medicines you take (including prescription drugs, over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal remedies or supplements) and any known drug allergies you have.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. Tell your doctor and nurse if you are pregnant or breastfeeding so they can make sure it\u2019s safe to be taking certain medicines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3. Be ready with questions about your medicines, especially for medicines that are new to you. Ask questions like:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>What is the name of this medicine?<\/li><li>What is this medicine for?<\/li><li>When and how do I take it? Can I take it with other medicines?<\/li><li>Should I take it with or without food? Are there any foods I should not eat when I take it?<\/li><li>How long do I need to take this medicine?<\/li><li>Are there any side effects I should watch for? So, take your time at the pharmacy and make sure to ask any questions that may help you better understand your medicines, including how to take and store your medicines. Here are some tips to consider<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1. When the pharmacist gives the medicine to you, remove it from the paper pharmacy bag and read the pharmacy label:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Check the medicine name to make sure it matches your prescription<\/li><li>If you don\u2019t understand how to take your medicine (dose, time of day, with\/without food, etc.), ask the pharmacist to explain it to you. They will be happy to explain.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>2. Don\u2019t be afraid to ask questions, such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>How should I store this medicine? Remember not to leave medicines in your car because temperatures can vary<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3. Use a paper calendar or the calendar on your mobile phone or another digital device to schedule reminders for taking your medicines on time<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4. Plan ahead if you are going to travel:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Make sure you have enough medicine for your whole trip (take extra in case you need to stay longer)<\/li><li>If you are flying, pack your medicines in your carry-on luggage in their original containers so there\u2019s no problem going through the security check<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"mb-2\">5. Ask friends and family members for help with your medicines if you need it. Accept offers of help from others and come up with specific tasks they can do, such as help with grocery shopping or other errands<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. Talk with your loved one\u2019s doctors and ask the questions that are on your mind<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3. Be open to new technologies that might help you, such as apps for food delivery services and meditation<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4. If the emotions of caregiving get in the way of your life, don\u2019t delay in talking with a mental health professional<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>5. Take breaks whenever you can &#8211; caregiving is hard work<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>6. More and more doctor\u2019s offices are using virtual visits (using a computer, phone or tablet) to make it easier for patients to get health care without leaving home. Ask if this option is available.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>3. Ask someone to come with you<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Consider asking a family member or friend to go with you to the doctor\u2019s visit to help take notes and remember what the doctor says<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>4. Prepare ahead of time if you are meeting with a new doctor for the first time<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Jot down a list of your symptoms or medical problems, plus the names, doses and timing of the medicines you&#8217;re taking these days<\/li><li>Next, make a copy to give to your doctor when you arrive for your doctor visit and ask them to add it to your medical records<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>5. Don&#8217;t be embarrassed \u2013 your doctor has heard it all<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>If you&#8217;re planning to discuss a personal topic, one way to be more comfortable is to practice what you plan to say in advance<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns border-top-1 border-bottom-1 is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:32%\">\n<h3 class=\"mr-2 mt-2 wp-block-heading\">At your doctor\u2019s visit, be an active partner in your health<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"mt-2\"><strong>Talking to doctors can be hard, or you may feel rushed. However, a doctor\u2019s visit is valuable time that you don\u2019t want to waste. Think of yourself and your doctor as members of the same team and speak up about your health.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1. Explain how you&#8217;re feeling \u2013 even the details<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Only you know how you really feel, and that information is important for your doctor to know. Talk to your doctor openly and honestly about how you feel and any symptoms you may be having. This will help the doctor better understand how to best support your health care needs.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>2. Ask questions<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Your doctor might have insight into other treatment options. Try to keep an open mind about your conversation. Years at MSD: From Regulatory Affairs Manager to Benelux Lead<\/h4>\n                                    <p>I\u2019m proud to celebrate five years with MSD, a journey that began during the unprecedented times of the COVID pandemic in 2020\u2014a truly unique onboarding experience I\u2019ll never forget! Today, I serve as the Benelux Regulatory Affairs Lead at MSD Animal Health, where I have the privilege of guiding a talented and diverse team.
