We&#8217;re hopeful that we can make a meaningful impact on the pandemic and help patients around the world.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns border-top-1 is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:32%\">\n<h3 class=\"mr-2 mt-1 wp-block-heading\">Expanding manufacturing capacity and supply of COVID-19 medicines and vaccines<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>In March 2021, we announced an agreement with BARDA to adapt and make available a number of the company\u2019s manufacturing facilities for production of COVID-19 vaccines and medicines. Additionally, we announced agreements with Johnson &amp; Johnson to support manufacturing and supply of Johnson &amp; Johnson\u2019s SARS-CoV-2\/COVID-19 vaccine.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns border-top-1 is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:32%\">\n<h3 class=\"mr-2 mt-1 wp-block-heading\">Stepping up as an industry<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>The remarkable pace of the development of COVID-19 vaccines and medicines is good news for our industry and for society \u2013 and the direct result of sustained investments in research and development by the research-based pharmaceutical industry, smaller biotechnology companies, academia and governments.&nbsp; We applaud these efforts \u2013 which must continue.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns border-top-1 border-bottom-1 is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:32%\">\n<h3 class=\"mr-2 mt-1 wp-block-heading\">Giving back<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>In response to the pandemic, we changed our volunteer policy to support employees with nursing and other medical backgrounds.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Recognizing the need for additional health care professionals, including doctors, nurses and medical laboratory technicians, to assist in regions where COVID-19 is spreading, on March 21 we deployed a new program to enable our medically trained employees to volunteer their time to aid their communities while maintaining their base pay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a
